Much like bad weather tore through the north-west the night before, Manchester City overwhelmed United away at the their home ground. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for the City coach's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that clearly signaled their title credentials as they consolidated their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Losses for United

This scoreline represented consecutive league losses for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since May 2024, putting them seven points off the table toppers with their championship aspirations in serious doubt.

United’s capability to balance league and continental soccer with a small team has been a widely debated subject since they secured entry to the European competition.
